A Unique Name

Flix is owned by Felicity Mines, one of Perth Makers Market’s longest running stallholders!

Felicity goes by Flick, and her dad’s name was Felix. When developing her business branding she combined the two names and Flix was created.

A Jack of All Trades if We Ever Saw One

Flix started nearly 30 years ago! Which, for reference, makes it older than some of our Perth Makers Market staff members! Flick realised that making jewellery interfered with her day job as an Art/Phys Ed teacher, which she had done for 12 years. By that point she had worked at Boulder Primary School for 8 years in the Goldfields. In fact, she was the only modern-day teacher mentioned in the Boulder Primary Centenary book. She’s pretty proud of that one.

Flix started when Flick and her friend founded the Youth of the Goldfields Exhibition at the A Class Gallery in Kalgoorlie.
As time went on, Flick decided that she should move back to her home town of Busselton, so she bought a house in Busselton, while still living in Kalgoorlie. Flick grew up in Yarloop and her childhood home was burnt down in the devastating fires. She listened to her heart and moved herself and Flix back home.
Flick also played and coached competition tennis. Then, because of an amazing Border Collie, she decided to try her hand at dog agility training! Her first and only Perth trial was the States and she qualified for the Final.

Classic, Versatile and from the Heart

Flix jewellery is classic and designed for all ages. Flick evolves and tweaks her designs constantly, guided largely by what her customers want from her.

She is especially proud of her Down South Collection where she brings together colours and memories of special places to celebrate “Connection to Place”. As Flick says, “We've all got a special place Down South.” She has named some of the items in this collection ‘Bunkers Ocean Blues’, 'Meelup Teals’, 'Canal Rocks' and 'Busselton Aqua Waters’.

Her latest collection is the 'Stardust Collection.' It was inspired by a special person who wanted a necklace to honour her four young boys, one of whom is heavenly. This person was the one who told Flick, “you have to do this,” and so she did. Flix has had some very emotional and personal designs to create, and she feels honoured to be given those opportunities.

In the future, Flix will have another collection called 'Pearls and Paperclip,' so keep a close eye on her social media (linked below) to see the release of this collection.

Flix also has a sparkly range called, 'Beach Boho Glam' and the 'Love Collection,' as well as the ever popular classic, 'Simply Elegant' Collection. Flick does not follow popular trends which means that her designs stand the test of time and are always in fashion.

Flix’s brand motto is “Originality and Integrity Equals Longevity,” and Flick lives by that when creating her stunning pieces.

Flick has a true passion for what she creates, she loves making pieces for her beautiful customers and she enjoys making something that is the perfect fit for that one special person. Flick loves that we're all different and that one size doesn't fit all. She does not consider herself a jeweller or silversmith because she makes things in her own way. Her partner, Simon makes most of her displays from recycled materials and furniture, under Flick’s strict guidance of course. Her son, Harry, is the best roadie and is Flick’s constant support.

A Perth Makers Market Staple

After many years in business Flix elevated to the next level when Flick started selling at Perth Makers Market. Flick’s world grew, her customer base grew, her creative network grew, culminating in Flix becoming a Perth Makers Market permanent stallholder, which Flick wears as a proud badge of honour.

Flick has worked hard following her passion for nearly 30 years, doing 3 markets a week for 6 months of the year, and 2 markets a week for the other 6.

Flick leaves Busselton at 3am for Perth Makers Market! Isn’t that incredible?

Where You Can Find Flix
Flix can be found at Perth Makers Market, Perth Upmarket and she has a permanent stall in Origins Market in Busselton, where she has a blue velvet sofa and a chandelier! This offers her one place, from Thursday to Sunday, without the need to drive for hours and set up a gazebo. Flick loves it.

You can find Flix at Perth Makers Market on Sunday 25th September at Goolugatup Heathcote from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Flick’s jewellery is also available online via her website, Facebook and Instagram:
