Our Next Market - Less than a month now!

It's been a while between markets but we have our next one coming up on September 24th! We're back at our home ground in Applecross at Heathcote Cultural Precinct.

We're excited to announce that we have now grown in size with over 180 amazing handmade businesses who will be in attendance on the day for you to browse through.

Don't forget to say you're either "going" or "interested" on our Facebook event to keep up to date with the news on this market.

Meet The Sand Card Company!

The Sand Card Company is a small business run by Jessica Scoble that provides sand card art activities at event, parties and more to help keep kids entertained. Read on to learn more about this small business.

The Sand Card Company journey started with two mums joining forces to create opportunities for kids to be creative. We saw fantastic results with sand cards, outcomes like increased confidence, kids building their fine motor skills and being creative with a product that guarantees success.

We started in November 2010 so have now been running for 7 years now!

I am inspired by watching people grow through creativity. There is a something special that comes from watching someone create something that they are proud of, or experience something that makes them smile. I always aim to bring this to every event I go to. I also love to watch the success of other small businesses. Networking and learning from others has definitely inspired me.
I work from my home in what was once a home theatre, but is now my workplace. There is coloured sand everywhere!

I've been inspired greatly by Maggie Dent. I've learned a lot from her on making interactions with kids a quality experience and that creativity is a form of education given the right environment - and one I definitely always aim to provide.

I've also been really inspired by Erin and her journey growing Perth Makers Market. The market has grown and become an event that supports and nurtures small businesses and gives a platform for success and growth.

Working with other event providers such as Lauren from Street Hassle Events and Jodie from Curious Collective Markets has also provided me with opportunities and I really appreciate the support.
My goals for The Sand Card Company (you may laugh) are a better website and a team of staff that represent our brand with the same enthusiasm I do. I would love an opportunity to work collaboratively with Maggie Dent and show her the skills I have working with kids. It would also be great to develop a specific sand card for a big brand one day maybe - and of course being given more and more opportunities to make kids smile!

I love that I am developing and creating custom sand cards to suit brands and educational messages. I've been privileged enough to create Rottnest Island cards, Crab Fest cards, an adult range and an Australian birds of prey series.
My words of wisdom to other fellow makers and small businesses is to network, collaborate, join small business support groups and find people that can help to nurture you on your journey. If you believe you have something to offer, you do! So don't be afraid to take risks and go for it.
